Google image search (again)

Ok, I know this has already been discussed, but wtf is going on??
You scroll a-l-l-l-l-l-l the way to the bottom and select "switch to basic version" (like it was before they piddled it up) search and then when you get there is does some weird floaty picture thing: this weird expandy picture thing (like apple macs do) then the silly thing disappears.
No-one wants this! So why are they doing it??

My sentiments exactly. I have emailed them .. I don't expect it to change. Why not make the new layout an option .. selected at the ruddy top .. like everything else is! Idiots.
