I'm a little bit scared of strong winds. I always have been for some reasons, and yet I love thunder.
Weird.
Anyway I'm curled under a quilt being a little bit scared

Hi Mojo.... We' ve been in contact this evening on another thread but as I hadn't spoken to you before, I thought I would check -out your profile. It appears you are a fairly new member of AB to which I heartily welcome you....it's a great site if you are able to disregard a few Nurds who can be offensive.

The 'best' wind I ever experienced was 12 or 14 years ago...it was our first visit to the West Country, and we decided to take a drive down to Land's End....this when the UK was getting hurricane-force winds in October. My ex and 10-year old daughter decided to get out of the car to have a 'closer' look at the waves crashing on the rocks...damned lucky they were not flung into the sea. Meanwhile-I waited in a car that was quite literally rocking from side to side.

A car is the safest place to be in a thunderstorm because the rubber tyres insulate the vehicle from the lightening going to earth. It may strike the the car but it is a bit like aircraft being hit with what I think is called Elmo's Fire and it doesn't enter the cabin area.
I'm off to bed now, but hope we meet-up again in the columns of AB.
Best wishes.....Ron.
