Mornin' all , any one got an idea what  20 down is ?

time left to get unknown score ?  T?E?N?

It seems clear to me that it should be "twenty " as in score but I cannot see the unknown bit. Has anyone any ideas please.

T = time...went = left...and Y = unknown.

I should perhaps have added above that 'y' is used to signify an unknown quantity in mathematics in much the same way as 'x' is.

Quizmonster , When you say Y = unknown, what do you mean ? sorry if I'm a bit thick !! I understand the other bits .

In algebra, typical problems ask you to figure out what numbers are represented by certain letters in equations, such as 'If x equals y squared plus 5' etc. The commonest letters used for this are x, y and z. So when you see the word 'unknown' in a crossword clue, it's often x or y (rarely z!).

Thanks Q-Monkey, but I thought I'd already explained the maths angle in my second response. But what the hey! Anyone who relieves me of tasks - particularly mathematical ones - is more than welcome. (I was always on the wrong page in my log-book 50 years ago...certain to be looking up a cosine when I should have been finding a tangent or whatever. I still don't know what either means. No, really, don't tell me!) Cheers
