What is the best way to deal with a baby who wants something but is dangerous so you take it away and he starts ctying? I occassionally baby sit and this happens a lot. His parents try and distract him with something else but he really cries. What should you do?

Wait until he stops...
if just crying because he wants something he cant have then ignore or distract.
Swap it for a toy.
..ps. if that doesn't work then it's tough t!tties afaic - s/he'll get used to it.
Don't let him get the dangerous item in the first place, there will then be no need to take it away from him.
Take it off him/her and then smack his/her bum and put him/her to bed that will give him/her something to cry for
bob...LOL...well said, that should get the modern mums "a flowing"
Bob, smacking a 1 year old hard enough to make him cry is classed as child abuse you eejit. It's a good job that most parents have more brains than to smack a baby as punishment!
Don't bite Daffy....
bob...see....I told you.
Smacking a 1 year old on the bum is pointless. They have a nappy to protect them...
Sqad, I would rather be a 'modern mum' than a child abuser.

Ummmm, I know, I just couldn't resist. lol
Thank God they are going back to school...I nearly turned into a child beater..

I have another relative who have a 3 year old child now and was brought up by the grand parents based on the understanding that kids don't know the difference between right and wrong and let him get away with anything because from a young age he could do and he was so persistent he never gave up. I really dislike this child in question which is wrong as its the upbringing that has made him into this way. Do you agree or do you think some kids are just plain naughty and lack any regard for anything?
You dislike the 1 year old or the 3 year old?

3 year old. Hard to dislike a 1 year old as they display very few personality traits.
gravy? is that you?
