Nottingham - a dangerous city?

I�m going to study in Nottingham next year and i�ve been told that it�s a dangerous city to live in because of the criminality. Is that true? Which are the most dangerous areas in the city? What about Clifton? Is it a safe area to live? Thanks.

im from st anns, nottingham.
i've lived there all 14 years of my life.
i've lost my best friend, Danielle Beccan, and my sister, Anna Irwin, because of gang rival shootings. Nottingham itself isnt a bad place, its just some of the places in it. St anns is the worst, closely followed by The Meadows, St anns' rivals. Its not a case of black man shoot white ma, or white man shoot black man, its a case of shoot or die. if you know what your doing then you should be okay, if you dont then its not safe. just stay away from the places where you dont belong, believe me its the wisesy choice you will ever make.
