printing poster size pictures

Is it possible to print an A4 size picture bigger by splitting the picture up into quarters, or even into 8 parts, so then each part comes off A4 size, to make it up into a massive size?

Plenty of programs which print pictures have a 'tiling' option which lets you do exactly what you require. However, Posteriza is a free application which is designed specifically for this task:

It is possible but the process if splitting the picture into quarters (or 8) is additional work. You can try going to online companies like http://uprinting.com for your printing requirements.

If you have enough time you can do it manually and use free poster/printing applications.
