It's a hell of a long time since I was at school, and I fancy reminding myself what I learned in history all those years ago.

Can anyone recommend a book to read, which doesn't delve into too much detail, but would update my knowledge?

All you need to remember is "What have the romans ever done for us?"(watch the life of brian for that answer) and two world wars and one world cup! lol

World cup? Is that recent history?
what history do you want industial revolution, medieval/ middle ages, 20th century histoy

I was wondering what todays school children study from.

Thanks HC. I was thinking along the lines of borrowing from the local library.
I'll see what they've got.
My daughter is doing GCSE History and so far they've been learning Pre second world war, causes that sort of thing, russia and woman getting the vote
