Help regarding DVD recorders
3 Answers
This is probably an inane question but one with which I require urgent help. My DVD recorder is on the blink and chooses to play DVDs which I have recorded (whether they have been finalized or not) as and when it wants to - my DVD player plays the same discs (finalized ones only obviously) without any problem. My problem is this - can the DVDs that HAVE NOT been finalized be finalized and / or played on another DVD recorder or do I have to finalize them on the original recorder first or have I lost them altogether? I hope not as there are about 40 discs which haven't been finalized yet with stuff on them I wouldn't want to lose.

You can just finalise when you like.
Many DVD players play open data discs. I have three players that will.
Bear in mind tho, that ANY damage that prevents the entire content of all sessions being read may cause a burn error, that will result in you only having access to the latest session of data. The old session(s) data will be inaccessible.
