recurring problem with mobile phone

My husband has been having a recurring problem with his mobile. It suddenly stops receiving calls or messages and, as he is not very competant at using mobiles I keep assuming he is messing about with it somehow and causing the problem himself. The only way I can get it to work normally again is to reset it to factory default but this is the third phone he has had a problem with. Anyone got any ideas?

does he have the iphone???
if so you have coma mode problems.
this is where no calls/texts will be received/ made.
for this is the reason i sold mine....

what phone is it anyway...

it has happened with nokia, sony ericsson and motorola phones and with different sim cards this is why I think it is something he is doing.
