My son has his fathers surname , not my choice and didnt have a choice at the time as it was a domestic violent relationship and was told that was going to happen.

Now though i would like to make my sons surname double-barrelled eg adding my surname to it. Not removing his fathers surname just to add to it.

Can this be done without his fathers permission?? He has parental responisbility as is on the birth certificate. But i have full residency due to obvious circumstances.

Can anyone help thanks

yes depending on when your child was born, before 2003 the father doesn't have parental responsibilty which is what you need to change or add a surname even if the father IS on the Birth Cert.
