I was wondering what news people watched on telly, I generally watch channel four but thats more because its on at a good time for me. Do people have preferences with their news? I look at Google news too but sometimes the stories don't change much when I know there must be new news, does anyone know good news websites? Thanks for any opinions?

I usually watch CNN or Sky News, simply because they usually get right in the heart of things so you get more of an idea of whats happening. You can access sky news on the internet, theyre usually pretty much up to date on the new news!
If you have Sky then I personally think in the UK its the best chanel. If I hear somethings happened - whatever - I always tune into Sky.
I don't have Sky (though do have freeview), but I still tend to look on teletext to check what's happening. I suppose if it was something VERY interesting I would switch to a news channel.
I use bbc.co.uk for my news.  It's just habit from being a student and not having a TV.  Now that I'm back at home, we tend to eat our dinner in front of the news, and so we watch whichever one's on when the meal is ready.  I only like watching C4 at 7pm when I've already seen a news that day.  I prefer only to go in depth, once I've seen a general bulletein, as I'm impatient! :-)

Personally I prefer Sky News most of the time.

If you're interested in breaking news etc have a look at this site:

I prefer http://news.bbc.co.uk

Sky news tend to report things quicker, but then sometimes get things wrong. I think the BBC research their facts a bit more before putting them up.
I dont really watch government propaganda news. I go to alternative news websites and read whats really going on.
Peahead - isn't all news slanted in someway?  Surely what you're reading is as much someone else's propaganda as the BBC/C4/CNN/Sky is government propaganda?!  Given the troubles between the government and the BBC recently, I think it's fair to say that the BBC is NOT the government's play toy as much as might previously have been presumed.  And CNN and Sky etc have never been government controlled... have they?

And what happened to ITN?!!

Nowadays I cant watch five minutes of that without wanting to throw heavy objects at the TV - is it just me or did they go down-hill faster than a anvil on a rollerskate when they went in for the makeover?

no January bug, peahead has a point, the news is more contrived than an episode of eastenders.  for a start, how can you have at least 3 different tv news companies, and always they share the same headlines, because they all use the same sources (reuters, etc), why not try investigatitive journalism, or looking for stories from scratch, if that was the case their headlines would be completely different, but having journalists sniffing around as wildcards wouldn't do any good for a government now famous for propaganda, 'sexing up', and 'spin', it just wouldn't fit in!  anyway doesn't 'bbc' stand for blairs broadcasting corporation?
Well said joules99. It aint half refreshing to see that there are some other people out there who can think for themselves.
