Loss of sound on HP Laptop

I have lost the Sound on my above Laptop. I have tried the usual places,looked for Volume Controls.looked in Device Manager and done a search for Volume Control Files.Nothing showing up. Any ideas much appreciated.

Not sure of what model you have or it's age but some old laptops have a small manual wheel on the side to adjust sound. Not sure if the newer ones have this! Can you see the sound icon in your taskbar? Click on it and see if mute is selected.
