Why do I hate earwigs

I hate them too beattie, they give me the shivers. I think mine stems back to my childhood when my Mum told me that they crawled into your ears and layed eggs!!!

I had one in my mouth once.
I was 8. I picked up a little kazoo-type thing off the window sill to play with, and a bloody earwig had crept in it, then swiftly transferred itself to my mouth.

I thwreamed and thwreamed until I was thick....

I hate them as well because they are a pest, my next door neighbour has several nests of them in his garden, when I first moved in it took about 6 months to stop the little blighters coming in all the time.

As a teenager staying with my gran in the Outer Hebrides I couldn't work out why our toast was full of holes. Turns out there was only one bread delivery a week and by the time it had lain about in the shop's cellar for a day or two the earwigs had got in and made little tunnels through the loaf. Gran just whacked them with a hammer as they crawled out.
