I'd like to change the locks on my front door myself, but don't have a clue where to start!!! Where would i buy the new lock from, and what type of lock would i need to get for a upvc door which i think has a five point locking system? Thankyou xxx

Make sure you get exactly the right size, measure from the fixing screw to a point level with the external handle so the new lock does not stick out. It does not matter if internal bit sticks out, but obviously if it is too short you cannot turn the key properly. If your old lock is flush fitting outside then easier to measure that, from each end to the middle of the threaded fixing hole ie 35,55 - pull it out of the door for this.

Look for a cylinder which is snap and bump resistant. I now recommend the new UAP plus cylinders which also meet the kitemark standard.
