Just to update you re Coco and the training. The lady came yesterday to do the one to one training with Coco - well - as I've said before Coco is a nightmare on the lead. The lady gave us a few pointers before putting the lead on and taking Coco for a walk, my son went with her and came back bemused. Coco had been so good, she walked to heel without being told, she had perfect recall and fetched her ball back every time. She was as good as gold! Today we went out and she's back to normal - a blooming nightmare! So... now we know - she's having us on and she's telling us she's gonna be in charge. Ah well now we know :-/ We love her anyway xx

Perseverance Masma! Coco is pulling your chain ☺ My sister had the same problem with one of her GSD's who would take her wherever he wanted to go. If I was with them and took his lead he would walk meekly to my heel wagging his tail on the while. I could even just let the lead rest over 2 open fingers, much to Big Sis's chagrin and total embarrassment! Keep up the good work ♥

Just remembered my old Newfi, Bosun, who would always do a spectacular recall which usually required the poor sap of his owner (yours truly) to take sandwiches, flask and good book whilst waiting. He always came back though! At one time he surprised me by the speed at which he came back. I had failed to see the lovely little bitch loitering behind me until the last minute. As I saw the whites of Bosun's eyes I realised that this 12½ stone of motoring machine was not going to stop. Bearing in mind this happened a few years ago - I suddenly decided there was only one course of action and with a fantastic sidewise leapiong movement my feet left the ground and in true Peter Shilton fashion I grabbed hold of Bosun's ample coat and brought the 2 of us down to earth. I was pleased with my effort to save the little female canine from a fate worse than death. 'Twas a mild irritation though to find I had rolled into something left behind by an uncaring fellow dog-owner but you can't win them all. The joys of dog ownership ;o)

I'm afraid it's a thing dogs do, some years ago we werevisiting one of my nieces when one ofher friends was litteraly dragged in by her by her dog, a gorgeous long haired G.S.D bitch puppy she called Hailley, who galloped round the room saying hello to everbody before settling on me ( she must have known i'm a sucker for G.S.D's) any way after a while being told how they were struggling with her etc etc I decided to take her for a walk while the ladies had a "girlie" talk so off I went and,after hearing Danielles' tales of woe I couldn't believe how well she behaved when I was well clear of any roads I even took the risk of letting her off the lead and she was perfect, running off chasing sticks and playing but comming in as soon as I whistled. On returning to the house I met Danielles' husband who said he'd passed us in the lane and nearly stopped to ask what I was doing with his dog then decided the dog was just a look alike as it was too well behaved to be his. I saw them In the pub a few days later and they wanted to know how I did it because as soon as we left she reverted to her normal behaviour, but persevere masma, Hailley eventually settled down and became the sort of dog you could be proud to take anywhere and I'm sure Coco will too (once shes' got you where she wants you)

Ttfn... I loved your story about Bosun - don't these 4 legged friends leave us with such happy memories. I'm sure in years to come I'll smile at what a horror Coco is at the moment, in saying that we cry tears of laughter at some of her antics. We have a little 9 year old friend who visits occaisionaly and he can make Coco do just about anything.
