Who are they (on this site).

They are often talked about, but who are they exactly?

Interested in responses from AOG, R1Geezer, New Judge, Brionon etc.

And do you think they are all share exactly the same thoughts and political views?

Well since you ask vic they are categorised by these traits:
- Anything England does or did was bad and evil and school children should be taught as such.
- Global warming is mankinds fault and they deserve to be flagulated.
- The monarchy is evil
- Cannibis is the fluffy bunny wonder drug and completely harmless, Booze is bad.
- The EU is good, if you don't agree then you are a Little Englander.
- Islam is good and wholesome.
- Gay is good and right and should be flaunted and portrayed as he norm whereever possible
- It is right and proper that the parliament act be used to make it legal to have gay sex with 16 year olds.
- In any discussion we must make ourselves look bad unless it's the non England bts of the UK then they can be made to look good.
- Use any opportunity to denigrate England, remember England is Evil.

If you see yourself then you are a one of the hand wringing lefty yoghurt knitter types.

Do you actually believe that any one person on this site believes any or all of that? Really?

Maybe you could point them out to me - as I really don't know anyone who thinks all those things.

Interesting your last one: - Use any opportunity to denigrate England, remember England is Evil.

A quick scan down the News section sees your posts:

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question71 1587.html - About the failing education system in this country - what do you class as denigrating England?

Well said R1, apart from the Monarchy bit I agree.

Dont forget we are all racists too if we dont agree with them and above all must take offence on behalf of everyone unless they are middle age fat balding old gits.

What I have always found odd is the pro islam pro gay bit. Sureley these are both mutually exclusive, same goes for womens rtights and Islam. Still most of the hand wringers cant see past the muesli.

I confess to having used the Guardian; for wiping my ar*e when the bog paper ran out.
Well the problem with the education system is that it is full of lefties pushing their anti English propaganda rather than teaching the kids anything useful.
I don't actually know anyone who reads the Guardian...I used to read it years ago, but found it too preachy. I switched to Britain's best newspaper - The Independent, and never looked back.

With regards to the who Islam/gay/women thing...I have no problem with Muslims whatsoever. I have an issue with those who hide behind their religion to promote prejudice, but won't single out Muslims because believe me, Catholics and certain sections of the CofE can be tarred with the same brush.

And let's not forget - the only people who now hate England is the dailymailers.

The rest of us want to live and let live.

<ahem> "are the dailymailers"
Well if it's a straight choice between being lumped in in with anotheoldgit and friends and knitting yoghurt then I'll happily go and knit some yoghurt:)
That being said I read the Guardian and Times every day, think it's fine to be gay ( at 16 if you are), fine to be Muslim (as long as you abide by the law ), canabis is only as harmful as smoking and that the EU on the balance of things is a good thing. I do not think everything about the UK is bad or that just because of her brithright the Queen has a 666 engraved on her head somewhere.
I do think however that we should all be free to express our ideas and thoughts, albeit that they might dangerously vary from those trumpeted by the BNP.
The only one in that list of RIG's which has any resonance is the anti-EU one, assuming he's thinking in economic terms (I bet he isn't, but only in terms of "Britain is being taken over and ruled by foreigners"). The rest is mostly paranoia ( cannabis is a wonder drug, the monarchy is evil etc), and taking anyone's stance or belief and distorting and exaggerating it to absurd levels. It's much easier to attack a non-existent belief than a real one!

Is there any reason why gay sex at 16 should be held to be in a different category to straight sex at 16? At least there may be some psychological grounds for so arguing (I don't say there are) but something somehow suggests that RIG is against gay sex altogether (or is that me being paranoid too ?)

RIG, the Rush Limbaugh of AB !
No I'm against the parliament Act being used in this way. It is intended for use in extreme constitutional difficulties. Not to make it legal for our gay friends to roger 16 year olds.
Well as one of the prime offenders let's see how much of the Geezer anti-manifesto I go along with/

Anything England did was bad and evil and school children should be taught as such -
No just they need to see what we did that was bad and evil and recognise it as such
That includes colonialism

Global Warming is mankinds fault...
Kind of what we're experiencing now is largely so

The monarchy is Evil
Nope just an outdated waste of space

Cannabis Good Booze bad
Nope both bad - but booze really bad for violent crime

EU good
Yep - unless you're microsoft or an industrial magnate who wants their employees to have no rights

Islam good
Nope all religion bad, but Islam not much worse than any other

Gay good and right...
Gay OK, not the norm but acceptable minority, not something you control any more than your hair colour

Make ourselves look bad..
Nope just have to look at ourselves honesty without the rose coloured glasses of patriotism

I think at least half of this comes down to whether you think patriotism is good or bad.

I happen to think it's an attrocious philosophy that robs it's proponants of critical thought

The m.bikers here read the Guardian & Star (contrast or wot). I need n/p to light my log fire and use the bikers discarded n/p....but a quick flip of the pages shows the Guardian to be biased against all, foreigners/BBC/Gov/EU etc. They appear to object for the sake of it? The Star is just lurid with little news.

I wouldn't call the bikers acedemic but the fire burns brightly on their newspapers.
tamborine i get MCN , Motorcycle news is the only paper i have ordered any others i just buy as and when i want them

Guardian & Star i have not read for ages. on sunday i bought , the mail. telegraph, express. after doing the crosswords i don't usually read them i give them to an elderly neighbour.

nice article on page 8 of the MCN this week !

The lefties tend to be the ones who are generally patriotic and proud of the UK in 2009, but recognise it's many flaws.

The righties tned to be the ones that are generally unpatriotic (or at least only patriotic for a version of Britain that existed 60 yeas ago), and think that the flaws far outnumber anything to be proud of.
Oh, and for a yoghurt knitter, I'm actually a tabloid man during the week. I don't have the time (or space on the commute) to read a broadsheet, and generally only need my sports thirst quenched. Most of my news comes online these days, and I'll grab the Observer at the weekend.
Incidentally, this is the problem facing newspapers today. People don't need to get their news from them, so what do you fill them with? Sensationalism, editorial and anything that panders to your market. So the Mail gets more and more xenophobic and frightened, and The Guardian releases supplements about how to turn your organic turnips into clothes for the family.
I have never wrung my hands... I'm not sure I know how to.

I can knit. I do like yoghur. I have yet to combine the two though, I think it could be messy. (Unless perhaps the yoghurt is suitably congealed and even then I think it might be smelly).

I don't read the gruniad.

I'm right handed.

I guess I'm safe then to carry on being as reasonable as I always am... Phew.

Absolutely, Supernick. The paper Times itself is really only of use in that it can and does give a lot of background to stories, with more time for that to be taken in conveniently at leisure than is afforded online..

The papers have to become more like magazines, to sell. The Daily Mail has set itself to appeal to women, and has a comparatively high percentage of female readers in consequence (hence my remark, stolen from a woman journalist friend, about it being a womens' magazine). Not sure who The Independent is after. Members of Greenpeace must be a target: the paper seems obsessed with 'green issues' ( a feature of The Guardian,if not so marked)
Fred do chelsea have a lot of female fans , quick scan of the fooball section in the mail , i see about 4 and a half pages on chelsea

I would like to re-instate this question (as I mis-posted my "fascists" thread).
ps. AOG/R1 et al ...just to confuse you, some of my ideals could be seen as right wing !
Yes ...there are middle grounds aagh!
