Statin problems

Is it only Simvastatin that causes constipation, or do all statins have this side effect ? I'm off for some figs ...

Don't think that was one of my symptoms, I stopped taking Simvastatin because of the muscular aches and pains. Have a look at the sheet supplied with the tablets.

You've got me thinking now. I'm on Pravastatin, but for the past six days I've had cramps. Don't know whether to stop them or just open a tin of Andrews Liver Salts.

My doctor said the main side effects of Simvastatin were muscle cramps which luckily I don't have, and constipation, which took a few months, but I seem to have now. Wondered whether a different statin would help .. I know a change of statin would help muscle cramp, I was wondering about constipation.

I think all statins have side effects. I take Ezetrol now and I haven't had the severe cramps and muscle pain with these, as for constipation I was advised to buy bran and sprinkle it on food and cereals. I don't have that problem now with Ezetrol.

If Simvastatin gives you constipation then it is likely that ALL statins will have the same effect.
