Waiting for delivery.

I'm waiting in today for a guaranteed delivery of a garden shed. The courier company boasts it has a GPS fix and radio contact with every van. I just called them for some indication of a time slot. They said it would be before 4.00 p.m. When I mentioned the GPS fix and asked them to tell me where the van was they replied "that's confidential...if we told you it would compromise our security". I wonder how many delivery vans get hijacked for bleeding sheds?

Well, there's an interesting thought! Until recently I was delivering car parts for a Ford main dealer. They were constantly checking the tracker system so that they could tell customers my exact location. So, does that mean that I can now sue the company for putting my personal safety at risk because someone might have hijacked the van for a set of spark plugs and an air filter or two?

I am also constantly tracked in my job as a London bus driver, apparently to an accuracy of 6ft via GPS.
It's very annoying when they call me up and ask "Whats your location?"

I know that sense of frustration, Alice. For me it comes about when I phone up to pay my credit card payments. The automated system insists that I have to enter my credit card number before I can speak to anyone. As soon as I get through to a real person the first question is always "What's your credit card number?". Grrr!!!
