Skids.... while I agree with you on all aspects you raised, thats not what I had in mind. Vandals, politicians and 99% of all other American's can be classed as muppets of the intelectually challenged variety, for the reasons you outlined above.
Joko.... I never said they were real, I said "In the context of", meaning within the 'reality' of the film. Don't be so patronising!
My question was asked with comedy in mind, and not with a belief that muppets actually exist, or with any doubt that certain people (politicians etc) partake in Advanced Muppetry, and so are classed as muppets.
I'll lay it out more simply... By 'Muppets', I mean Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzy, Gonzo and the others. By 'In the context of', I mean within the boundaries of the film. By 'random pockets' I mean colonies, families, lone wanderers etc.
I ask again.... 'In the context of the Muppets in their films, are they the only muppets, or are there random pockets of muppets living within America?'

in the context of 'comedy in mind' I too was making a joke, hence the little :o) at the end, and the bit about santa. I know that you weren't inplying they were real or using the term muppet as a derogatory statement, otherwise i wouldn't have made the joke! kinda obvious. you are obviously taking your query far too seriously - chill!
