Hole in the bathroom floor

I discovered a hole in my bathroom floor recently by the shower cubicle. The shower has been out of use for 7-8 years now as it used to leak and had caused damage to the ceiling in the room underneath the bathroom. We had the ceiling repaired 7 years ago but the workmen did not investigate the original source of leak. My bathroom floor is of chipwood and the hole in it is about the size of a golf ball. Would my house insurance cover the cost of repairs?

I guess they would pay up if you had a burst pipe and a flood, but I should think they would put this down to wear and tear. Might be worth a try though. :o)
