I went to see this at the weekend with my Boyfriend and my Niece & Nephew,  the kids loved it but my boyf and i both felt it was a bit sinister at times! Johnny Depps character is a bit creepy if you ask me, and as for the dolls at the beginning of it i think they'll give me nightmares let alone the kids.  I dont know, do you think you need to be 10 to appreciate it??   BTW i love the original and have been known to sing along once or twice!

I haven't seen the film yet, but in a newspaper article at the weekend, Roald Dahl's widow stated that he would of loved this film as it seemed to be more true to the book than the original 1971 film (which she states Dahl hated).

I haven't seen it either, but I think Willy Wonka is supposed to be a bit creepy isn't he? I thought the Gene Wilder version was too. He's a bit of a sadist really.
Roald Dahl's book was on the dark side and he was very disappointed with the 70's version.Thats why he would'nt agree to the follow up "The Glass Elevator" being made into a film. Insane Wally, you're right RD absolutely hated the 1971 version.
i went with my husband and teenage kids, didnt find it scary at all and thought jonny made the film his own,yes he was creepy but funny,  don,t think you need to be 10 to enjoy it, just young at heart.
