God i know the feeling. Admittadly, i LOVE junk food, but even when i try really hard to lose weight, i cant seem to shift it, and people (myself included) always seem to think that its the (fat) persons fault for eating too much, but it's not!!! (always!). Then when you try to explain to people what you do eat and excercise ect, they always seem to find fault in it, yet in reality, i eat no more junk than the average person, but i gain weight just thinking about food! and everyone else seems to maintain theirs! It's so annoying. Sorry i know this isn't the answer as to why, but i ad to have a moan about it too!!!!
I think it's all in the genes.
Don't mean to gloat but i can literally eat whatever i want. I have been underweight all my life and at the age of 22 I weigh 8st and I am 5 foot 9 inches tall. I had to go through school being taunted for being anorexic even though I have never been. I loved my body when I was pregnant coz I had a bit of weight on me for once. My daughter is also very underweight (although perfectly healthy) and I have always been chased by doctors and health visitors for this, (to the point i cried at the thought that she might be taken away from me) so just like you i have been told that my weight and my daughters weight is my fault. I think in this modern day society you can't win. You're fat and you get penalised for it, you're thin and you get penalised for it.
Society dictates if you're overweight then you must be eating too much chocolate etc and if you're thin then you must not be eating at all.
I know this really doesn't answer your question but i thought that for once it gave me that chance to get my point of veiw across!

I am so glad you have put this! I'm glad I'm not alone I'm 12st 3lbs I kickbox 3 times a week and I eat a GI diet. My nurse has told me ' you really need to loose weight, it's not very healthy' WELL I CANT DO ANYMORE!!! I eat small portions I eat healthy and yet cant beat the bulge! Admittedly I have PCOS which really doesn't help so now I've resorted to slimming pills its driving me crazy!!!!
could it be an intolerance? my friend had tried to lose weight for years and the drs eventually sent her to a nutritionist and they did some tests and shes basically intolerant to everything! this means that no matter how little she eats, if shes eating the stuff shes intolerant to shes going to just keep the weight on!
You're absolutely not the only one. I'm exactly the same and it's so frustrating, especially when people suggest you must be eating more than you say (which I don't). I've just come to the conclusion that we all have different 'resting' weights and what is healthy for one person may or may not be healthy for another. I'm (just) about within my BMI but feel like I should be slimmer (although tall I have a pretty slim frame; small wrists etc). The only thing that gets the weight off for me is drastically reducing my food intake (and I mean SERIOUSLY reducing it). I've followed plans such as WeightWatchers (didn't shift an ounce) and Atkins (yes, the weight did drop off but I felt like hell, had terrible stomach problems, and piled half it back on within two weeks of stopping). I now try to judge my health by other means, such as aerobic fitness (if I'm finding my usual weekly hike in the Lake District leaves me more out of breath or I can't get up a mountain as quickly, then I up my walking during the week), blood pressure (currently good) and what state my skin and hair are in (if I'm looking a bit pale or under the weather, again, I get out for a walk - the only exercise I enjoy, which is way cheaper than the gym). Only you can judge how fit and well you are and BMI charts don't take all these factors into consideration. As long as you're happy and healthy then stuff what everyone else says!!!
You could try eating smaller meals with healthy snacks in between, not eating your main meal in the evening, eating less starchy carbs and dairy. Thats assuming you arent doing all that already. I can sympathise, I work out every day for 20 minutes and swim 3 times a week also (weekends off sometimes!!) and I still level off at a size 12 and have a chunky butt!!
Just try it slim-shots - http://www.thinreport.com/slim-shots.html
