gawd....trying to choose a relatively cheap but effective carpet washer is a nightmare. have got old, dirty carpets in a rented house a really need a good spruce up. any recommendations or suggestions gratefully recieved. mtia x
I tried Rug Doctor. It spruced up the carpets but the strange thing was that after a while the old stains on the carpets came back. Maybe Rug Doctor just cleaned the surface but didn`t get deep down. I then hired a professional carpet cleaner and he made a really good job of the carpets.
You could get the older orange type Vax they work quite well and these days you can pick them up cheap, paid over £180 for my first one but only £70 for new one last year. Put a bit of the Vax stain remover on bad stains then clean the carpet. Rog Doctor is good but can work out expensive to keep hiring and the Vax lasts for years with only bit of shampoo to buy.
thanks everyone - with kids and three cats, i really need a machine that i can regulalry use at home and i think after 10 years - any stain resistance in the carpets is pretty much gone. sara - the vax you mention is the one i've been looking at...just hope it does the trick to spruce things up. i'm not looking for miracles! x
