Fainting

I have recently lost a bit of weight but not drastically, I'm still eating plenty I have just cut out crisps and biscuits and as a result lost a bit of weight. Even before i'd lost weight, only occasionally this would happen, but if i was standing for a while i'd sometimes get really hot and my vision would begin to blank out but it would soon pass once i'd sat down. But today I nearly fainted, i was standing waiting for my friend to come out from the changing rooms at a shop and i just got sooo hot, and then my vision blanked out completely and this time i couldn't see a thing and my hearing went weird too like i could hear my voice in my head. Anyway, so i was losing my balance and my friend who i was waiting with had to guide me to some steps to sit down and whilst i was tyrng to get to them i was bumping into all these clothes racks etc. Anyway once i sat down the staff gave me a glass of water and i gradually got my vision back. I feel fine now but i'm worried it's going to happen. Is this because of the weight loss or just because i was tired and hot? The shopkeeper said to me it's my bodys way of telling me it needs sugar. Should i go to the doctor ot get this checked or is it just a thing to pass?
Sorry for the long story and thanks!!

I went through a phase of fainting between the ages of 13 when I did it spectacularly and cracked my head open, had a night in hospital and suffered concussion, and my mid twenties. It doesn`t happen now and I don`t know why I used to get it. It might be worth checking it out if it keeps happening.
