how do I find Louie Jones?
My father, John Lee was born in Byker March 1890 (I am 88) to parents Easten Lee and Louie Lee, formerly Jones.
I have all the info about Easten and his family but know almost nothing about Louie.
Her son was born at 78 Janet Street, Byker, Newcastle but I cannot find any Jones family there in the Census.
1891 Census lists John as a Nurse Child with a couple called Simpson who I knew as my grandparents when I was young. He lived wth them until he married - on Marriage Cert. he named his father as Easten Lee (deceased- but Easten did not die until 1939)
1891 Census lists 107 Janet Street as the Toward household including niece Elizabeth Jones, 17, born Middlesbrough. Coincidence?.
Desperate to find my poor Louie. Can any one help please?

Can you give a little more info about Louie - such as when she died? Where did you get the info from that her maiden name was Jones?
I have found an Easten Lee (who I think must be yours), but he married in 1899 to a Lilly Muller. When he died, Lilly took out the Grant of Representation to his estate. Was Easten married twice? Or do you think Louie might really be Lilly? Or was he not married to John's mother and simply married later?

Thanks to Barmaid, craft1948, & dotty for you replies. Forgot to mention that I cannot trace marriage of Easten & Louie - but she says 'formerly Jones' on birth cert. of her son. Easten was born 1872 and I guess that Louie was equally young.
The Lee household had a maidservant in the 1881 Census - but not in 1891.
Was Louie the servant somewhere between these dates and was she seduced by the 'young master' ?
I know about Easten's marriage to Lilly Muller and their daughter. I have his will but no mention of any family or Louie or son John. Sad!.
Looks like the proverbial brick wall.

who registered the birth? Louie would not be able to include Easten on John's birth registration unless they were married or at least unless she stated that they were married. If Easten went to the register office on his own he may have said they were married, there is no proof they ever were and so it's probable that either one or both of them just stated they were to get John registered as legitimate. Have you ever found John's baptism?
