mrsa ,,, c.diff ?

i have just noticed a mention re mrsa. have you or anyone you know had mrsa or c.diff, and how did it affect your recovery ? thanks

Yes, my husband caught MRSA. It resulted in months in hospital, several more operations - and a permanent disability.

yes Anne, my mother and aunt both contracted MRSA whilst in hospital a few years ago...............neither of them recovered!.............

Oh it's just so nasty, especially for the elderly/frail...............can be a killer!.........

Hi Anne, when the MRSA was detected, he underwent a debridement and then a special machine was attached to the area for several weeks that continually 'sucked out' the infection. Then he underwent two very complex operations - one involving 11 hours of plastic surgery, and both involving transplants.

Apart from the appalling cost to the patient, God knows how much these infections are costing the NHS to cure - and all for the want of a strong disinfectant, a bit of elbow grease - and a little common sense!! It makes me really angry!!!
