I've used a company called "driver hire" that appears to be an organisation that basically supplies freelance work to drivers with or without vehicles.

You could also become a taxi driver.

Try home delivery companies like: White Arrow, Reality and Business Express they often use self employed drivers as well as their own work force and have everything from fork lifts to arctics and in between! So you may even better your driving skill range.  My son works for them so good luck!
