what exactly is the role of FEMA during this hurricane business? aren't they supposed to do stuff during federal emergencies? i've heard no mention of them on the news. It all adds credence to conspiracy theories about their real purpose.

FEMA has already begun to help in the relief effort here in the States, and they will continue to help in the ways that they are deligated to do so.

For instance, I have just heard only an hour ago that FEMA will be providing long-term housing for those without shelter and that is only one responsibility they have been given, among many.

So, yes, in the States, we do hear about FEMA and their responsibilities frequently.

This is the Federal Emergency Management Agency...they always take part (small or large) in every natural diaster or emergency the U.S. may suffer.

Well the "official" site is hardly gonna tell you anything but what they want you to think is it? Nothing wrong with reading multiple sources of information. For anybody who seeks truth then listen to the whistleblowers and follow the money is my advise. For the rest of the sheeple - go back to sleep nothing to worry about. No offence.

apparently, a program on the bbc today has stated that FEMA food trucks took 4 days to get aid to New Orleans. an interviewed truck driver said that water was loaded on monday but his bosses stopped them from going in for four days. im not sure if we are getting a misrepresentated media view here, or if its the other way around.

Its all just for show really, because so many people have been critical of FEMAs (deliberately) slow response they just remove the head (who hasnt really gone anywhere, still gets a cozy job and will still be on the same salary as before) and the people (that cant think for themselves) will think that it wasnt FEMAs fault it was his fault. Happens in all corrupt businesses.
