It is pretty obvious that they or someone has seen your ex coming to and from the house and thinks he is living with you. You need to explain the true situation and get your ex to explain it as well.
As you say he (the ex) is a self employed builder it is quite possible he is being investigated to see if his statements of income etc are true and that is how they have seen...

what evidence ? sara i dident do anythink wrong .your job is to convince people that the accused are gilty no matter what .but i walked out of that room with out any one saying i did it becouse there was nothink to answer to .a year later if not more thay knock on my door ?? your mind set is still at work maybe ...thay don't need hard evidence to ask some one to come to there office thay only need some one to plant the seed .one of there questions was why have we seen a bag of sand on your path and why is your ex partners van been seen on your drive ??? you tell me sara .yes really .what a shame sara i almost thought you were open minded .i cant sleep or eat for worry that i cant prove im not guilty.AND YES THAY CALLED ME IN WITH NO EVIDENCE
Bloody hell Pingam sara's trying to HELP you, by seeing how the other side will view things. She's a very nice lady- so wise up and take notice of what she says- she's trying to be of assistance. I appreciate you're worried but it won't help snapping at people who are taking time to answer you and trying to get the full picture.
thanks Albags and NOX x
pingram, if they interviewed you without a scrap of evidence (which sounds doubtful as they've obviously done surveillance, at least) and you are sure you have done nothing wrong, it would be inappropriate to sign a formal caution, and you may wish to consider making a formal complaint.
but do it with the knowledge that they may well prosecute you. all the best with that.
I won't be answering any more of your questions.
