I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder model DMR EX87EB. When I press Viera on my TV control to record something to the hard drive the display shows 'A1' instead of HDMI and the TV guide doesn't come up. We have tried switching it off and on, resetting the clock, and have gone through the instruction manual but it has been no help. The TV guide comes up on the TV. Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks.

What is the Viera button 'supposed' to do exactly (check the manual) You are talking about the button on the TV remote or what?

It starts the DVD player up. the TV and DVD player are both Panasonic. Normaly we press the Viera button on the TV remote, the DVD payer starts up and then we press TV Guide and select what we want to record, but no programmes are coming up on the TV guide. The display on the DVD player would narmally say HDMI to record to the hard drive but says A1 instead. I ws wondering if anyone else out there has a Panasonic that they have mastered (unike me who doesn't understand it at all!).
Is the TV guide unpopulated then?
If so, you need to do a rescan for channels.
This is where you should be looking ... forum for Panasonic ...same model as yours

Hi Pottyone, Like you the TV/ DVD drives me nuts as well but a similar experience might have some bearing on your problem. We have Panasonic kit and when the guide showed blank lines after a general repositioning of channels, we were told we needed to rescan both the TV and the DVD. It worked we got all the channels back so maybe give it a try.
