Last summer my mother's neighbour paved a large area of his back garden. Whenever it rains water runs off of the paved area in to my mothers garden causing her patio to become flooded. She has asked the neighbour to create a gully or drain along the side of his garden to stop rainwater coming under the fence but this has caused bad feeling and the neighbour has refused to deal with the situation. My mother has approached the property owner (local authority) asking for them to rectify the problem but they have replied there is nothing they can do. My mother owns her house and so local authority has no interest in it. Any views on how to resolve the situation? The friendly approach and formal approach to the owner has not worked. Thanks
Take a pick axe to the boundary -deep enough so the water doesnt run onto your ground -in fact slightly higher yourside so the water runs back onto their patio -all done on your ground of course.I would :)
take photos of floods (evidence). Register a letters to LA and neighbor giving them 2weeks to rectify the damage or you will enlist own builders; and take them to Court for expenses incurred.
