Genes Reunited and 1911 census
40 Answers
I've just received an e-mail from GR telling me that I can now access (for a fee) the 1911 census.
I can purchase 50 credits for £ 5.00, which will probably suit me rather than a half-yearly membership.
I've already purchased the 'household details' via the dedicated 1911.census website, but wanted the complete details available.
However, I can't find how many credits it will take to get access to the 'full transcript'.
Does anyone know ?
Thankyou.

there's a number of people here that will guide you ummmm but the main advantage you have is that you seem to spend alot of time listening to your grandparents and I bet you already know quite a bit,

when you say the 'complete details' jack, do you mean you want to look at the original entry signed by the householder? in that you do get an awful lot of good info, like length o marriage and children from the marriage how many are living and how many died. The details tend to be so much more reliable as they have let us see the entry the person filled in as opposed to the info after transferring to a enumerators book, The houshole transcript which costs less credits does give you a way of confirming you have the right people before paying the higher fee. The fee for looking at the original entry is quite reasonable as you can copy the page and publish it in the ancestry tree and keep it forever so it is good value
ummmm, yes, but only one of the ggf's will have had your surname. I'm just suggesting this as a way into investigating the history of the Ummmm family. You can expand it sideways as much or as little as you like.
If you traced all your ancestors... well, allowing for three generations a century, if you go back about 800 years you'd have more ancestors than the number of people in Europe. So there are reasons for focusing your search a bit.

It is true that many civil records were destroyed, census and civil registration, but many of the Church records and registers remain. There are several Family History Societies based in NI and Ireland that have spent decades researching, rescuing and indexing substitute sources to aid research, sources that with English resesarch are largly used as an addition to the usual records like census and civil records. The census substitutes published and indexed to cover the various Irish Counties are invaluable,
OK, echokilo...........if you insist. :D

If you join Find my Past then you get unlimted access to the 1911 census. It can be very costly if you buy credits. It can be an expensive hobby, but it does give hours of pleasure. Friends and I ask each other for help when we're stumped as often a different person will go in a different direction. With Find my past you can also look at other censuses (censusi?).Go on their site and have a look at what's offered. You can also always share a subscription with someone else if you use the same password. Don't know whether I should have said that, but it does make it cheaper.
Hi
I have done about 10 family trees now over about 5 years. I did one for a friend for her 60th birthday and my sisters husbands family. I find the best and easiest is Ancestry.com although I have now signed up to unlimited Findmy past which has been a great help and found quite a few that I couldnt find on Ancestry. It can be expensive but its a hobby like anything esle. We make holidays out of travelling around the country looking at places and gravestones of descendants. Lots of photos etc. Once its done, its there forever to pass on to my son for him to take over.
If anyone needs any help with anything, Im not saying Im an expert but Im a digger and keep going till I find someone somehow and would be willing to help as I just love doing this.
