Actually 57 is middle aged .I don't feel middle aged not in my mind. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak in my case .
It is just a number .. but also when I begin to sound like my Mum I know I am middle aged !
Then again I can remember my mother in her eighties referring to the "Poor old lady"" next door who was only in her sixties. My brother who is 71 refers to people as" poor old things" when they are much younger than him.I say the same to him and then he says"Well I am 71 you know"!! You are as old as feel you in mind or body!!

Oh linda you don't have to bow your head in shame. It happens to us all....this funny middle aged moment..I was unlucky enough to be struck down with ill health just as I reached 50.Very sobering.Nothing life threatening but curtails things I want to do .
It's funny but we live round the corner from a sixth form college..and opposite is a park where I walk my dog.All summer it's been lovely ..nice and quiet and clean and tidy.I went up there on Friday with the hound and it was knee deep in rubbish.Obviously the students are back at their studies and in their spare time they strew their coke bottles and takeaway wrappers all over the place.I was really annoyed and found myself muttering to myself about the state of the park.I came home and moaned to Mr.S about it. He said I am turning into Victoria Meldrew !!!

Hi sunflower 68, When i was 20 my mum was 46 and i thought, cor thats old, when i got to 46 i didn't feel old, I'm now 50 and i still dont feel any different. My mum is 76 now and although she isn't as mobile as well as would like to be she is very young at heart, so i say that middle age in my opinion is state of mind. :-)
