Can anyone help me with a website for getting rid of unwanted 'pre-recorded' telephone calls? I'm getting them every hour through the day. BT say they cannot stop these sort of calls. I've also registered with TPC

Thanks.

Who are they from? Is there a number you can ring back if you dial 1471?

They are 'withheld' trying to sell credit cards etc!

I've signed up with the Caller Preference Service (for which you have to pay) but it has stopped nearly all cold calling. What is doesn't stop is companies who you may have given your number to for something else - British Gas have phoned me several times asking why I don't have a dual fuel deal with them, but they have my number legitimately.

Number 'Withheld'
PS yes vibes, I've used that site - you often find that the number concerned is a pain in the butt to many other people too.

Ok, i'll try that thanks boxtops
Just Googling the number works sometimes...I had someone call me 4 times the other day, seems it was some finance place.
Are you sure you need to pay for TPS? I'm sure im with them and I haven't paid anything.

Anyhoo, if I do get a cold caller, and its not many, I tell them in with TPS anyway, that gets rid of them.
Oh I missed that B00, you're right, no charge for TPS...well there wasn't last time I told someone about them.
If you hang on long enough you can either speak to someone and ask them to remove your number from the database and ask who supplied them with the database, or in some cases, they give you an option to press a number which again stops the calls. IE "If you do not want to receive any more calls from this number, please press the number 9 on your key pad"
