I am at college 14 hours per week,i sign on for jobseekers allowance,my question is: Do i still have to sign on as i did a part-time level 2 course last year and have gone on to do a level 3 this year but i still had to sign on through the level 2. One of the girls at college has just gone onto jobseekers and has been told she will not have to sign on and has shown me her jobseekers agreement, so she will be able to do the course without signing every 2 weeks, does anyone know if this is the case as when i ask my local office they say no i must still sign on...its confusing.

I've never heard of someone being excused singing to attend a course. one of the rules for getting JSA is that you have to be available and actively looking for full time work.

you have to declare your course and any loans/grants you receive.

Thats what i thought, so how is it the girl on my course is'nt required to sign on she has the exact same circumstances as me. ie. single mum with a child over the age of 12, claiming jsa and studying part time.
no idea.. is it the same jobcentre? you could query it.

also, are you sure she receives JSA and not ESA or Income Support?

I really don't think anyone is excused signing for JSA.
