i have beta blockers for migranes, in addition to several other pills. apparently one of the causes for my headaches may be stress, i had palpatations regularly a while back...if they are the sudden painful kind i suggest 10 breaths into a paper bag, the increase in co2 etc will deepen your breathing and slow your heart rate.

I have an irregular heartbeat.  The consultant wouldn't give me beta blockers because of my young age and general high fitness level.  It is apparently something I just have to live with.

I also have rather low blood pressure which doesn't help, but I'm definitely not taking medicine to alter that.

Have you had a 24 hour heart tape or an ECG?  The readings from these can help to define your actual condition.

I'm no doctor, but the last resort if it was serious would be a pacemaker. I knew two people with them and you really don't know they're there but they do the job. I hope you don't have to go that far though, there's probably more they can do first to sort it out. Good luck.
Iregualar heart beats with no organic cause are not generally treated with beta blockers. Beta blockers may help reduce anxiety or lower blood preasure but dont have any effect on the electrical activity of the heart. If the heart beats have an organic cause ignore the above and see your doctor.
