i got three e-mails from the AB team to tell me about a thread I hadn't subscribed to, I must have hit the subscribe mark, but I wasn't aware of it. I just posted a 'thank you -but' note on the Ed's blog and it was sorted.

Looks like something to do with our late night handbag spammers.
I have a list of their website links if you feel like having a go at reporting them to the Consumer Direct (it looks like an online scam).
I have already submitted the list of links to them and have had a regular corrspondence with thme.

Did you accidentally click subscribe in the OP box? I do that all the time cos my lappy has one of those wee square thingies instead of a mouse

tambo when you look at the thread does it show you the option to 'Unsubscribe'...

I can see Subscribe on the Q box here but no unsubscribe....where is it ?

If you were able to click on "unsubscribe" then yes, you must have subscribed by accident.
