Smoking in Corrie

Just something we were wondering about.... given that Corrie is a "set" and that set is a workplace, how do they get round the smoking laws especially as so much of it goes on in the programme?

Surely its got to be PC Ventris from Heartbeat who smokes the most cigarettes - its rare you would see him without one! (that and his hard boiled eggs!!)

I gave up 7 years ago and have no problem with anyone who wants to smoke in my company. I think it's a real shame that smoking has been banned in pubs, because a lot of pubs have gone out of business over it. Why couldn't there have been smoking/non-smoking pubs, then the public could go to whatever suited them.

Because Tizzi the staff in the smoking pubs would have no choice about inhaling the smoker's second hand cigarette smoke. Why can't people smoke in their own homes if they really need to?
