Last month I was dismissed from my admin job for persistent lateness. I had worked their almost a year, so I can't hide it on my CV. How do I deal with the question: 'Why did you leave your last job?' at future interviews??

Unfortunately, you're pretty much shafted there as any reference will state what happened. You could try leaving that job out of your CV but it's risky if they find out.
Why not get a job in a lighthouse? That way you cannot be late for work as you live at your workplace, and work your own hours
Your best option might be to offer some form of explanation as to why you were repeatedly late for work, and to make it clear that the problem no longer exists.

e.g. "Unfortunately I had a car which proved to be very unreliable. I kept thinking that I'd got all of the problems fixed but it still kept breaking down and making me late for work. Fortunately I've now got a far more reliable car; even if it broke down I'd have no real problems getting here because it's on a direct bus route from my house"
OR
"I was facing a lot of family problems at that time, which meant that I had plenty of sleepless nights and found it difficult to get to work in the mornings. Those problems have now been resolved and I seem to bound out of bed every morning"
