I've just eaten a Sherbet-dab.G/children have been round today after tidying up I found it. Put it on the shelf to give 'em next time.
I could see it from my pc out of the corner of my eye. I could have sworn I heard it call my name.as well. I haven't had a sh/dab since I was a little girl, and it tasted oh soo good. Friends and schooldays came flooding back.
Have any of you got childhood fav sweets? I loved Shrimps, and sweet cigarettes too.
Can you remember the packs of 1d chewing gum you got from a machine outside shops? The round handle had an arrow on it and if the arrow pointed towards you you got 2 packets instead of one.
I remember when my grandad gave me a halfpenny (he never gave us anything) and instead of buying sweets I bought a little Hovis loaf. We'd never had shop bought bread as my nan used to bake it.
It wasn't PK as that was more expensive (2d I think, but you got 5 bits instead of 4). The names I remember are YZ which was green and I think could only be got from a machine, and Beechnut, which I remembert being quite bitter.
There was some kind of different coloured chewing gum which looked like beechnut - i loved that....and chelsea whoppers....and fry's chocolate with different individual flavours...and of course not sweets but i loved creamola foam....yum yum
Isn't it nice to delve back to those days now & then? If you want to recapture some of those flavours here's a web-site for you. (Where I buy the Sherbet Dabs from)
