watrloo rod, adopting a baby
I know the story is from the tv, but I was wondering where the people would stand if the situation happened in real life.
For thos of you that don't know, in waterloo road which is based at a school, a female teacher can't have a baby and the head teacher PA is pregnant but doesn't want the baby. They agree that for no charge, that the the PA would have the baby and that she would give it to the teacher and her husband to look after.
However the baby was handed over and so far no legal documents of the adoption have been sorted out. And now that the PA has seen her baby a few times she is becoming closer to it and wants it back, and in the preview to the next episode, you see her running away with her baby in a pram.
So where would everyone stand in this situation if it happened in real life?

A family adopting a baby where the father has a criminal record, the son has been in prison and the father smokes - no way would they be allowed to adopt in real life, so Mollykins, you MUST remember these are made up stories that are sensationalised to within a fag paper's width to bring in the viewers
it is a very long and drawn out process Molly and takes many weeks and months, even years, of looking at prospective parents in detail from how safe their jobs is to their criminal activities (if any) and so on and so forth
Have a look at Babyworld.com if you really are intertested. They have a dedicated adoptive parents forum - go read it =)
