There seem to be several Toshiba M70 models. (Equiium M70, Satellite M70, Satellite Pro M70, etc).
I'll assume that it's the Satellite M70. (if not, ignore the following and post again with more detail).
Go here:
http://driverscollection.com/?file_id=33379
Type the code into the 'Enter code from image' box and click the 'Download file' link. (NB: IGNORE all other download links)
Click on 'Click to download sound-xp-510005870.zip'
Select 'Save file' and click 'Save'
Navigate to a suitable location. (Your desktop is as good as anywhere). Click 'Save'
Go to the location of the downloaded file and double-click on it.
You'll see a new window, with a 'sound driver' folder.
Double-click on that folder.
There are several files called 'setup'. Double-click on the one with a blue bar across the top of the icon.
That will install the sound driver.
Restart your laptop and sound should be restored. (You can then delete the file which you downloaded).

Hey?
You don't need to purchase anything!!!
That series of instructions was based upon actually downloading the driver (which, of course, I don't need) to my own PC. There was definitely NO payment involved.
Follow the instructions again. After you've typed the security code into the box, click on the BLUE 'Download file' box. (IGNORE ANYTHING ELSE WITH THE WORD 'DOWNLOAD' ON IT).
On the next page click on the BLUE TEXT which says 'Click to download sound-xp-510005870.zip'. (DO NOT CLICK ON THE OTHER 'DOWNLOAD' LINKS).
You will then get to the 'Open with'/'Save file' box. (Select 'Save file' and continue as above).
