The purpose I think is reproduction, self-preservation etc. That's what every living thing is, and does. But stepping outside the solar system (s) and looking in... Why are we here? Who put us here? What else is here? Our brains (that have trouble interpreting infinity) are simply not developed enough to even begin to know the answer. How could we? All I feel is that there is a LOT that we don't know, and probably may never know. At least our brains have developed enough to even conceive of the question- why are we here? Cats and dogs' brains can't think that "wide"! They just know that they ARE here, and a) What's that- can I eat it b) What's that can I s**g it...?
We will probably destroy oursleves before we have a chance of finding any of this out anyway...!
Hi rogerthomas, well I must say I have enjoyed reading all your humerous responses, but seriously I agree with Le Chat, we are here to learn from life's good and bad experiences. Everything happens for a reason, and your destiny is already written before you are born.
Only our souls can answer that question and not our brains. Yes, we reproduce on Earth to keep the production going for vehicles to carry our souls. Like the Police song says... "we are spirits in the material world".
Try meditation and you never know you may find the answer within.
By the way, I believe the egg came first.
