I'm off to Amsterdam in a couple of weeks, I know the City well but haven't been for a while. Do any recent visitors have recommendations for good bars and restaurants, not tourist traps or achingly trendy!

I also want to do some shopping, apart from Kalverstraat (yawn), Magna Plaza (double yawn) and Jordaan (OK) where else is worth exploring?

heineken brewery, poezenboot, http://www.poezenboot.nl/?taal=uk (if you like cats), anne frank house, van gogh museum, get an iamsterdam card lots of discounts of places and the free gifts are good if you use the vouchers i got big boxes of chocolates from a posh department store with them!
