You did sherrard... you said this in the original post, didn't you, about halfway down? Did you eat the pumpkin inside btw?

No Box - it went straight in the bin (as will the insides of all the others). Sorry - but they won't eat pumpkin pie or soup (they've not had it before but my gut instinct tells me it's not worth the blood, sweat and tears involved).

Bit late to ask now (as my husband has already 'carved' one) - but how long does a carved pumpkin last? (It is currently wrapped in cling flim, with a cup of water inside and is in the garage.) Thanks

LOL. When I was young my father used to carve out a turnip (bloody sight harder than a pumpkin). At least we could eat the innards the next day. Pumpkin pie? Tried it only once. Gross!!!
