I have just had a frantic call of hubby - to cut a long story short

due to fraud on his account (and problems with bank) he changed accounts to A&L and they were meant to change all his DD's over. he was extremly suprised to have been tracked down to work by the CSA who have told him they have had no payments for some time and are making him pay £600 lump sum! and £200 per month (on top of the £150 he already pays) until its paid off - there is no way he can afford this - and we wont be able to pay our own bills... please dont hate me, i know his child is due money thats not the question, he just cant afford it ...

Sorry but I cannot have to much sympathy for you - you have had and spent the money and the child has not. Will they take a payment agreement? If not it looks like a lean christmas for you
I know...I was answering what you answered to Bednobs.

£600 and the rest should be there if it's a bills account only. Unless at the end of the month he seen money left over and spent it..
Does he not have contact with the child?
i think we are all agreed it has been approx 6/7 months since he paid anything, surely in this time your husband's child's mother has noticed that payments have stopped and either contacted your husband or contacted the CSA

irishheart - wasnt looking for sympathy but rather some help... my days are lean enough regardless of christmas thank you very much.

thank you everyone else - luckily all sorted. the reason we were panicking is that the CSA kept saying he owed another £2000 but they couldnt advise of where from and just wanted to get him to agree to a payment plan of £200 per month...

the money that hadnt been paid by DD was still in the bank (£600) so he could pay that, but after speaking to 3 different people they just kept saying he owed more but couldnt explain from where. eventually after speaking to a manager, it seemed that it was just a clerical error. phew ! and is all paid up.
As is so often the way with the CSA (and believe me, I know!) one person will tell you something else, and when you call back you can never get the same person again so you have to tell the whole story and mistakes are made. This is why the CSA fails

Glad it's all sorted out in the end
