washing guinea pigs

how do you wash a guinea pig
we groom ours often but i heard you should bath them occassionally

I never washed my guinea pigs when I was a child. I don`t know much about their habits in the wild, but if they`re not animals that bathe in water in the wild, then I wouldn`t think they need to be bathed

They probably need at least a gentle wool program, no hotter than 40 at a guess?

My granddaughter had a guinea pig and she used to bath hers usually 6 months or so, after advice from the vet. Just don't hold the hairdrier too close or have it on a very warm setting .

There is no real need to wash them. The longhaired ones need grooming as they can not cope with their unnatural coat by themselves.
It is more important to make sure you feed them a suitable diet so that their teeth wear down properly and the toenails should be inspected regularly to check for overgrowing.


Ofcourse, if you want to show them they need regular pedicures and washing.
