Thanks for the links K & Mintyman. Couldn't have finished it without your clue though K!
Other winners - how long does your prize take to arrive - mine was 1984 but received nothing yet. 6 weeks?
well I completely surprised myself by guessing the proverb after solving the first clue, pretty much confirmed shortly after and the rest was fun.
K: 14a) was a cute clue wasn't it
Roslyn: I won 1977 and now that you point it out I don't recall having received anything yet either - I am sure Ruthrobin is right though. I guess Dumpynose would say ' Patience is a virtue' !
thanks to both K and Mintyman for the links / pdf as always
Roslyn: a little confused by your comment that you won 1984. I don't think that result has yet been published - or did you mean that you won 16 years ago. If so, your prize is definitely overdue.
I won a few weeks ago and the copy of Chambers came fairly quickly - about 2 - 3 weeks.

I won a few weeks ago and the copy of Chambers arrived fairly quickly - about 2 - 3 weeks, I think.
I also won a couple of months ago and the cheque arrived after about four weeks. However, on at least two occasions in the past, I had to ask Doc to chase it up for me. Andrew
K I think it's a shame to give the complete answer to the theme. Surely a hint is better. Isn't half the fun thinking and waiting for that eureka moment when the theme suddenly flashes up?
I post the puzzle and then daren't look again at the posts until I've finished it. Or am I wrong?
