Keep getting a problem where Firefox reports a 'not responing' flag. This seems to happen almost every time I go on line. Let me say at the outset that I am using version 3.6.10 (downloaded yesterday but not having any effect) and this does not happen with Internet Explorer. Once the message is shown, the screen shows the revolving circle, and I have to wait for maybe half a minute until the system is free again. Then, on the very next screen it happens again, for another 30 or so seconds. 30 seconds does not sound much in itself, but during an online session of a couple of hours this would occur mybe 40 or more times! It does slow things down somewhat! Temporarily I have returned to IE8. Any ideas, or do I remin with IE?

I've just updated to 3.6.10, and don't have any problems.
I suggest that you first uninstall FF and then a do a new install.
If that doesn't fix it, the problem could be caused by one of your addons.
Try disabling all addons, then re-enabling one at a time to work out which one is the cause of the problem.

thanks - will do.
...have you tried turning it of and on again? ;-)

Seriously though - clearing your cache might do the trick.
I have been using .....10 for a few weeks now. It's fine.
It is a background process causing this.
Check Task Manager to see what else is running. It will be one of the high memory usage ones listed.
Failing that, do a disc check on each drive and tick the 'fix'

So - I did a complete uninstall, ran a dskchk, reloaded version 3.6.11 but it has made no difference. Where do I locate the addons so that I can disable or delete them please? Are they all going to be in the same place? I thought they'd be in 'Downloads' but I can't see them there.
Tools/Add-ons
The Extensions tab shows you all installed add-ons
When you click on an add-on, the Disable and Uninstall buttons appear.
Before you disable them you might want to try clicking the Find Updates button at the bottom, and just ensure that they are all up to date, as that might also solve your problem. If it doesn't then as I said, disable them all, and see if the problem goes away. If it does, enable the first one and see if the problem returns. If not, enable the the next, and so on. If you hit one that causes the problem to return, uninstall it.
Well I just did a fresh Factory install on my Gateway NV53A and downloaded a fresh copy of Firefox, and................ still it does the not responding thing. Frankly it's a Mozilla Issue and t's a pain in the ass. There are alot of issues with this online.
Yet they choose to play stupid !! Typical. So I will not be using FF anymore since they seem to not want to fix their issues and blame it on guesses instead of facts.
So for of you that are having this " Not Responding " Issue, it's not add ons or your computer, It's FIREFOX, This Build sucks big time !!
I Just reinstalled my whole operating system back to factory to try and solve this problem !! Answer is .....Nada. So for all you Braniacs, Firefox is the problem !!!
Not Add ons or your PC. It's Firefox and not giving a crap to listen to people about this problem. To bad really cause I Like FF, But this Crap is annoying.
Every time I use Firefox it Just keeps happening, Like the guy says , like 40 times per session or however long your on. It last for like 30 to 120 seconds each time.

I have just disabled every addon except 'AVG safesearch' and 'Java (TM) plug-in 2 SSV helper'. Touch wood, it seems ok for now, but any more 'let downs' and I'll join Jerry in probably going back to IE8.
Your too Funny Rojash.............Maybe you should read this: http://tinyurl.com/2fcrg4d

It's a Firefox issue, plain and simple !!!
Rubbish .. Never heard so much trollop.
I agree with Mr Rojash

It's 3.6.11 now anyway .. That's fine too.
