Anyone know much about funding??
5 Answers
Hi everyone, am a little bit stuck... I am leader of a small children's playgroup, we operate in a school (but are a seperate business) and the school is about to move site's to a bigger building.... my little playgroup may have the chance to have our very own room inside the site and then be able to operate all through the day and into late afternoon (very exciting stuff!) but as we've been a 'not for profit' business for a few years we haven't got anything in the way of capital to buy all the neccessary equipment to start up a new setting... so... at that effect, does anyone know of any accessable funding for a little business as our's? I have been looking into the Lottery funding, but would like a back up just incase that doesn't work.....
thanks!
thanks!

or try your local council - the department that would deal with community engagement/development or voluntary/third sector...they may be able to help you find funding sources...or point you in the right direction.
Try Goggling "Small grants" and your area...that may bring up more options,
Also try asking your local community centre manager...they should probably know of possible funding sources, or direct you to a local area trust that can help you.

Depending on what part of the country you are in there should be a local community foundation - for example in what was Avon it is the Quartet Foundation and in the midlands there is the Heart of England foundation.
Here is the link to the community foundation network - there may be one in your area and they are often a good place to start as they often can give grants, but also can suggest other options and in some places also have access to databases such a Grant Finder or Funder Finder.
It is also worth googling to see if any local organisations in your area provide free access sessions to Grant or Funder FInder.

Also meant to include this link - this is VOSCUR which is a Bristol based organisation but their website has a lot of information about national funds and grant giving organisations, as well as other information in general about fundraising.
